Mridula Mukherjee

Mridula Mukherjee was Professor of Modern Indian History at the Centre for Historical Studies, JNU, Dean at the School of Social Sciences, JNU and Director at Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, New Delhi. She was a Visiting Scholar at Duke University, North Carolina, USA (1986) and at the University of Tokyo (1999–2000) and a Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Study, Nantes, France. Her major publications include Peasants in India’s Non-violent Revolution (2004), Colonialising Agriculture: The Myth of Punjab Exceptionalism (2005), India Since Independence (2008) and India’s Struggle for Independence (1988). She is series editor for the SAGE series in Modern Indian History, which has already produced 18 monographs.
