Aditya Mukherjee

Aditya Mukherjee is Professor of Contemporary Indian History at the Centre for Historical Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi and was Dean at the School of Social Sciences, JNU and Director at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Advanced Studies, JNU. He was a Visiting Professor at Duke University, North Carolina, USA and La Sapenza, University of Rome, Italy. He was Japan Foundation Fellow at the University of Tokyo (1999–2000) and Fellow at the Institutes of Advanced Study at Lancaster, UK; Nantes, France and Sao Paolo, Brazil. His major publications include Imperialism, Nationalism and the Making of the Indian Capitalist Class (2002), India Since Independence (2008) and India’s Struggle for Independence (1988). He is series editor for the SAGE series in Modern Indian History, which has already produced 18 monographs.
